Not just a service area. Troy and the southern crew are based here, which is why response times south of the river look different from most contractors covering this stretch.
Estero sits in Lee County between Bonita Springs and Fort Myers, and unlike most of the communities we serve it is not only a service area for us. Troy Martin runs the southern half of the company from here, which is a practical difference rather than a marketing one: the person who quotes your roof lives in the same village and deals with its Community Development Department routinely.
Every project here permits through the Village of Estero’s own department rather than through Lee County, and that distinction catches out contractors working down from Fort Myers or up from Naples. Filing with the county on a village address is a rejection, not a correction.
Estero also sits in one of the higher wind zones in our service area, and a great deal of its housing is newer, deed-restricted, and built to comparatively modern codes. Both facts change what the right roofing recommendation looks like.
Being based here means an inspection is a short drive rather than a scheduling exercise. Free, documented with photographs, no obligation. Particularly worth booking on any roof replaced in the post-Ian rush between 2022 and 2024.
The category this crew has the deepest experience in, and a strong fit for the wind zone here. Standing seam with concealed fasteners earns the highest wind mitigation credits available, and near the water we specify aluminum rather than steel without exception.
Full tear-off and replacement permitted through the Village. Deck inspection and repair inside the scope, wind mitigation features built in and documented so the insurance credits actually reach your policy.
Common across Estero’s deed-restricted communities, where the association usually has a view on profile and color. Where the tile is sound and the underlayment has failed, reinstalling the original tile solves the appearance question and costs a fraction of a full replacement.
Lee County sits in a demanding part of Florida’s wind map, and Estero specifically is one of the higher-requirement pockets in our service area. That is not an abstraction on a roof: it drives deck fastening patterns, underlayment specification, the fastening schedule for the covering, and which products carry the necessary Florida Product Approval.
A specification that is entirely correct in Bradenton is not automatically correct here, which is one reason we do not run a single spec across the whole coast. On new installations we also go through roof geometry, because a hip roof earns materially larger wind mitigation credits than a gable and that decision is only live once.
Deed-Restricted Communities and Review
Much of Estero’s housing sits inside gated or deed-restricted communities with architectural guidelines covering roofing material, profile and color. The requirements vary from one community to the next, so your own association documents are the starting point rather than a general rule about the village.
We assemble the package boards ask for — product data, physical samples, a clear profile statement — as part of the project. The review runs alongside the Village permit rather than after it, so starting late delays both.
Post-Ian Work Worth a Second Look
A very large number of roofs went on across Lee County in the eighteen months after Hurricane Ian, under conditions that did not favor careful work: material shortages, crews from out of state, and homeowners under real pressure to get covered.
Most of that work was fine. Some of it was not, and the crews responsible are frequently no longer in Florida, which makes a warranty a piece of paper rather than a remedy. If your roof was replaced between 2022 and 2024 and you have not had it independently looked at since, a free inspection tells you which of those you have. If it was done properly we will say so and you will not need us.
Why Estero Homeowners Call Us
An owner lives in the village. Troy runs the southern operation from Estero. Not a satellite territory covered from ninety minutes north.
Permitted through the Village, not the county. Estero runs its own Community Development Department, and filing correctly the first time is the difference between starting next week and starting next month.
Specified for this wind zone. Fastening patterns, underlayment and product approvals matched to Lee County requirements rather than to a single statewide spec.
Honest about other people’s work. We look at a lot of post-Ian roofs here. Most are fine, and saying so costs us a job and keeps the referral.
Does Florida Gulf Roofing have an actual local presence in Estero, or do you just service the area?
We have a team based in Estero, not just a service radius drawn on a map. That local presence means faster response for inspections, quotes, and repairs in Estero and the surrounding Lee County communities compared to a contractor traveling in from further away.
Is my Estero roofing permit handled by the Village or Lee County?
The Village of Estero has its own Community Development Department separate from unincorporated Lee County, with its own permit process. Since our team works in Estero regularly, we handle this process directly rather than needing to figure it out project by project.
Why does Estero have such a high wind speed requirement?
Lee County's design wind speed requirement is approximately 150 mph under the current Florida Building Code, among the highest in Southwest Florida. This affects fastening patterns, underlayment specification, and which products carry the Florida Product Approval needed for installation here. We build to this standard on every Estero project regardless of the roofing material.
Do you also serve Bonita Springs and Fort Myers from your Estero team?
Yes. Being based in Estero puts us centrally located to serve Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, and the surrounding Lee County area efficiently, in addition to Estero itself.
What Our Customers Say
Reviews left by Florida Gulf Roofing customers on Google, shown word for word.
Florida Gulf Roofing helped me with the insurance process after Milton. Troy did exactly what he said, the crew did an excellent job on site: clean, professional and on time. I could not have asked for a better experience during a stressful few months.
Olivia Mudry
I am beyond ecstatic about my new roof. The crew absolutely knocked this job out of the park. Mike came out and gave me an estimate (very fair priced), walked me through the roofing process, and showed me what shingles were best. Absolutely recommend this company.
